It often feels like ADHD bodies can put items down without informing the ADHD brain. When said ADHD brain needs the item… well. It’s like it fell into a wormhole.
One way to cope with the wormhole is to have a device that can find all your devices and cannot in itself get lost.
Step 1: Wall-mount a device
- Get an old phone or tablet.
- Mount it on the wall next to an outlet.
- Plug it into the outlet.
Never move this device.
Step 2: Turn on Find my Device or get tags on all other devices
- On every device you own – phones, MP3 players, tablet – that has Find my Device or an equivalent service, turn the service on.
- Any other items you tend to lose – keys, wallets, your coat – put an Airtag or equivalent hardware.
Step 3: Ensure your wall-mounted device can find your devices and Airtags
- Open whichever app you use to locate devices and Airtags.
- Ensure it can see all your deviecs and Airtags.
And you’re done.
Conclusion
The important step here is relying on a device that can’t move – because it’s attached to the wall – to find all the devices that can move. If you just use Find my Device on another device that can move – for example, if you use your regular phone to find your car keys – you will sooner or later lose both at the same time.
